Complete Energy Control Management
ECG provides the full range of energy control management services for mission-critical construction — from program development and onsite leadership through documentation, audits, and project handoff. ECG does not perform electrical installation, maintenance, switching or equipment operation, electrical testing, or physical lock/tag application.
Program Development
Effective energy control starts with a well-built program. ECG develops and maintains the project Energy Control Plan (ECP), lockout/tagout (LOTO) program, equipment-specific procedures, forms, and controlled records — coordinated with owner requirements, contractor programs, and applicable project standards.
We work with the project team from the planning stage to define scope, contractor interfaces, system boundaries, and energization milestones. Roles, site authority, and reporting structure are established through the approved ECP before work begins.
As the project evolves, we maintain and revise program documents to reflect current conditions — tracking changes, managing revision control, and keeping the program aligned with the work.
Chief Energy Marshal — Onsite Leadership
The ECG Chief Energy Marshal provides onsite leadership and coordination throughout the construction project. The Chief Energy Marshal is the primary ECG point of contact on the project — present at the Energy Control Center, attending coordination meetings, and working directly with the contractor's LOTO team and project stakeholders.
The Chief Energy Marshal's role is coordination and oversight, not physical execution. Switching, equipment operation, electrical testing, and lock/tag application are performed by the electrical contractor's qualified teams.
The ECG Energy Control Operations Manager provides remote support to Chief Energy Marshals across project sites — including MOP review, planning, tracking, technical coordination, and program oversight within the agreed scope.
Energy Control Center (ECC)
The Energy Control Center is an accessible coordination point established near the work. It serves as a shared resource for the LOTO team, housing lockboxes, controlled records, MOP and action plan status, and current single-line information.
At the ECC, workers meet the contractor's LOTO team, address energy questions, and coordinate required steps before going to the work area. The ECC is portable — it can relocate as construction progresses and access routes or work fronts change.
Scope and staffing for the ECC are defined for each engagement based on project size, complexity, and the contractor team's structure.
MOP/AP Governance and Energization Planning
Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Action Plans (APs) define how specific work activities will be executed. ECG reviews and governs MOPs and APs — verifying that energy control requirements are addressed, that procedures reflect actual site conditions, and that revision control is maintained.
We coordinate energization planning across work groups — tracking readiness, identifying gaps, and confirming that the right information and approvals are in place before planned energization activities begin.
Workforce Training and Site Orientation
ECG conducts training and site orientation to prepare the workforce for the project's energy control requirements. Training covers the project ECP, site-specific procedures, roles and responsibilities, and the coordination process at the ECC.
We coordinate with work groups to confirm that personnel have completed required orientation before beginning energy-related work on the project.
Document Control
Controlled records are a core part of effective energy control management. ECG's document control support maintains the project's energy control documentation — procedures, forms, training records, authorization lists, MOP/AP status, and audit logs — in a current, organized state throughout the project.
At project completion, we organize documentation for handoff — providing the project team with a complete, well-structured record of the energy control program.
Audits and Ongoing Oversight
ECG conducts structured audits of energy control practices throughout the project. Audits assess whether documented procedures are being followed, identify gaps, and generate findings that are tracked through to resolution.
Ongoing oversight keeps project owners and general contractors informed — through coordination meetings, oversight reporting, and direct communication — so that energy control status is visible across the project, not just at audit intervals.
Who We Work With
Built for Mission-Critical Construction
General Contractors
We support GCs who need a structured energy control program and independent oversight across multiple trades and subcontractors on complex projects.
Electrical Contractors
We work with electrical contractors to coordinate LOTO team interfaces, govern MOPs and APs, and maintain program alignment as work progresses.
Commissioning Firms
We coordinate with commissioning teams to align energy control documentation with commissioning sequences and handoff requirements.
Project Owners
We provide owners with independent visibility into energy control practices across their project — clear reporting, structured audits, and organized documentation at turnover.
